Wild on the West Coast

BBC OneCountryfileBen has worked on Countryfile alongside John Craven for nearly seven years reporting on all things rural. During this time Ben has taken part in a number of events including the Stinging nettle eating championships, world lawn mower racing, conker championships, oyster eating, worm charming, Tough Guy and the Man vs Horse race. He has reported from dozens of islands, including Shetland, Islay, Bardsay, Barra and the Falklands.

Through Hell and High Water

BBC OneThrough Hell & High WaterThe series followed Ben and James Cracknell as they attempted to row 3000miles across the atlantic ocean in a 21 foot wooden rowing boat. The series followed the trials and tribulations as the two struggled with the elements. Pushed psychologically and emotiaonally to the limit, Ben and James survived hurricanes, the loss of their water maker, a capsize and loneliness. They hallucinated, wept, fought, played games, grew beards and nursed blisters. 5 x 30 mins BBC1.

The Sand Marathon

BBC TwoMarathon Des SablesThe series followed the trials and tribulations of Ben, as he took part in the Marathon Des Sables, a six day, 150 mile race across the Sahara desert. Competitors must run with all their equipment in what is often described as the toughest footrace on earth. BBC OneSport Relief BoxingBen took on former Eastenders actor Sid Owen in a three round bout in aid of Sport Relief. Ben was coached by Jim McDonnell and Frank Bruno, Ben won the match with 68% of the public vote.
