All donations have gone to the RNLI, for whom every penny goes towards saving lives at sea. I completed the marathon in 4 hours.

BBC back to Taransay BBC2 in May

BBC2 have filmed a week long retrospective looking back at the original series, Castaway 2000. Using archive footage and interviews, the series promises a nostalgic return to Taransay and an opportunity to find out what happened to Roger, Ray, Ron and the 36 other Castaway’s. Ben to run Flora London Marathon

Ben will be running the flora London marathon on sunday april 12th as part of his ongoing training for the omega 3 South Pole Race at the end of the year. Ben will be joining his South Pole team at the start line and will be running in aid of the RNLI. Ben returns from New Zealand adventure

Ben recently returned from a two week adventure across New Zealand which included climbing the Remarkables in Queenstown, kayaking the Abel Tasman national park, whale watching and Kiwi spotting on Stewart Island and a visit to Milford Sound. Ben Returns from Arctic Training

Ben and his South Pole team have just returned from ten days arctic training with the special forces at Dombas in Norway. Training included crevace rescue, ice drills and a mini expedition.

A brand new series of the hit Extreme Dreams with Ben Fogle begins in the new year with Ben leading five fresh teams to some of the most extreme enviroments on earth. Explorer Benedict Allen and naturalist Charlotte Uhlenbroek join Ben’s panel to choose team members during a gruelling selection process in the Brecon Beacon’s of Wales. The series will run each weeknight for six weeks on BBC2 at 6.30pm.

Ben becomes President of the Council for National Parks

Ben has officially taken over from actor Brian Blessed as the President of the Council for National Parks. The handover took place in the area proposed for inclusion in the much anticipated and long awaited South Downs National Park. The Western Wield, a area of outstanding natural beauty has been recommended for exclusion from any future National park due to the fact is is a predominantly sandy landscape rather than than chalk that characterise the South Downs.

Ben awarded Honorary doctorate of Letters from Portsmouth University

Ben has been awarded an Honorary degree from his old university, Portsmouth as recognition to his services to sport, television and charity. Ben was awarded an Honorary doctorate of Letters at a ceremony in July.

Ben Fogle and James Cracknell to the South Pole

Ben Fogle and double Olympic rowing gold medallist, James Cracknell have announced their plans to enter the 2008 Race to the South Pole. The pair will endure temperatures of minus 75 as they cover nearly 400 miles of Antarctic white desert on foot. The race will be the first ever undertaken to the South Pole and will push the teams to their limits as they race to the bottom of the world. The pair are currently searching for a third team member to join them on their record attempt to the South Pole.

Following the success of Wild in Africa, Ben and Kate travelled to the Californian coast to report on the marine mammals and sealife and the scientists and volunteers who work alongside. Highlights include Great White sharks in the Farallon Islands, 20 miles West of San Fransisco and the work of MBARI, the underwater research vessel studying the creatures of the deep in the Mariana Trench. 10 x 1 hours BBC2.

Ben wins RTS award for Through Hell and High Water

The acclaimed series Through Hell and High Water made by TwoFour documenting Ben and James Cracknel’s attempt to row across the Atlantic ocean has added another award to its belt. The five part BBC documentary has been awarded a prestigious RTS award for best Daytime series, hailed as ‘innovative’ and ‘daring’.

Ben becomes Tribe member of Vorovoro Island in Fiji
